With the newly-created Laser Rods and Rotor Force (as well as the rebuilt Dreadwing ATB), the Decepticons quickly conquer a gas mine on the moon E'Brutoc. Megatron seizes their cache of Rheanimum, a gas that makes metals super-dense and damage-resistant, unaware that Starscream senses that Megatron will soon have him killed. A Decepticon shuttle returns; the only survivor is a badly-wounded Skullgrin, who dies after confirming the existence of a new group of Decepticons.
Megatron, convinced of Optimus Prime's claims (last issue), rallies his forces for a full-scale assault on Lord Jhiaxus. Unfortunately, Jhiaxus has already been informed about the Decepticon shuttle, and is gathering his forces as well...
Soon after, Megatron's Warworld is attacked by a battalion of Jhiaxus' Decepticons. Though Megatron's forces fight back, they are quickly massacred by Jhiaxus' forces, who have superior numbers, superior firepower, and superior strength. Staunchly ignoring Starscream's pleas for an immediate retreat, Megatron flies for the enemy ship and confronts Jhiaxus directly.
Jhiaxus dismisses Megatron as a relic and a throwback, and easily defeats him. For the coup d'grace, Jhiaxus blasts Megatron from high orbit, and sends him crashing down to a nearby planet.
Hours later, Soundwave leads the survivors of the massacre on a search for Megatron's remains. They find Megatron: battered, burned, barely alive -- and ravenous for revenge.

Back on Earth, while automated medical robots treat Optimus Prime's numerous injuries, he reflects on the long history he and Megatron shared -- their battles, confrontations, deaths, and resurrections. Optimus wonders why he didn't order Megatron killed when he had the chance (in issue #70 of the original comic series), and wonders if he and Megatron were destined to work together to stop the new generation of Transformers.
Optimus' thoughts are suddenly interrupted when a very angry Megatron bursts into the room...
