While the Decepticons continue their assault on Earth, Swindle takes Megatron on a guided tour of the Warworld. Though it is a mishmash of technology and components, Megatron is suitably impressed -- especially by Bludgeon's plans to use the Autobots' Creation Matrix to create new Decepticons. Soundwave asks Megatron why he bothered to reanimate Starscream; though Megatron admits that Starscream has been helpful lately, he also confesses that he won't need Starscream for too much longer.

On Earth, General Hawk of the G.I. Joe team is anxiously waiting for Skydive to return with Autobot assistance to stop the Decepticons. Skydive returns with one Autobot -- Optimus Prime.

At the G.I. Joe camp, General Hawk is baffled at why Optimus Prime didn't bring any other Autobots with him to stop the Decepticons' rampage of Earth. Optimus explains that he doesn't want to risk a full-blown battle now, as it might irrevocably destroy the planet. His plan instead is to try and stop the fighting by forming an alliance with Megatron against Lord Jhiaxus' forces.

While Megatron is informed of Optimus' arrival, Prowl struggles to stop Grimlock from leading a full squad of Autobots to Earth. Grimlock thinks Optimus' plan is ludicrous, but Prowl warns him against barging to Earth and destroying his chances for success.

Back on Earth, Optimus Prime stops Tantrum from wreaking further havoc, but is then ambushed by Megatron. Optimus tries to tell Megatron about Jhiaxus' Decepticons, but Megatron ignores him. With his new strength and powers, Megatron easily defeats Optimus, then uses an energy siphon to steal the Creation Matrix from him. Megatron's death-blow is interrupted, however, by the timely arrival of Grimlock and a full squad of Autobots. Already victorious, Megatron orders the Decepticons to retreat.

Meantime, on the remote planet of Fara, a team of alien Esk clones is visited by the Swarm, a living cloud of dark energy. Within seconds, the Swarm destroys them with its all-corrosive touch, then continues its travels through the universe...
